Think-Tanks USA – Access to Diversity
FAS.research, Vienna and San Francisco
2006
Project Description:
The image shows a selection of US think-tanks and their affiliated institutions.
The larger scope of the research project is to analyse the creation and
diffusion of concepts, ideas and convictions through think-tanks on a global
scale. Here we were interested in the different types of affiliated institutions.
How diverse is the pool of affiliates with respect to philantropie, university,
government, corporations etc.
Legend:
Nodes represent institutions. Think-tanks are highlighted. Each color represents
a certain type of institution. (philantropie, university, government, corporations
etc.) The pie charts show for instance how many percent of the Brookings
Foundation's affiliates account for government, how many for foundations
etc. Think-Tank X has a line to Harvard University if a person serves in
a crucial function at both institutions. The thicker the line the more
people connect Think-Tank X to Harvard.
