    Social Network Analysis – Understanding B2C and C2C Networks by Harald Katzmair


    The emergence and diffusion of opinions and reputation are subject to extensive research within the field of Social Network Analysis. Due to Web 2.0 technologies it is possible to trace the diffusion dynamics in real-time, the impact of word-of-mouth communication can be assessed with new survey-techniques. The more data available, the more important the conceptual framework of understanding patterns, morphologies, and dynamics of networks.

    The talk presents basic insights on viral dynamics based on over ten years of experience in applied social network analysis for B2C and C2C marketing. FAS’s framework of the role and function of “Opinion Leaders” will be outlined and the underestimated importance of so-called „Confirmation Seekers“ will be discussed.
