Climate policy in Austria too "centralistic"

Little has changed in Austria's climate policy since 2013 - despite the new government. This is shown by a new Network analysis. According to this, there is too little exchange between the central actors and regional initiatives. An excerpt from the network of Austrian climate policy: a closely networked centre is contrasted with a periphery of numerous, hardly connected start-ups, projects and initiatives. As far as science is concerned, only the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences is close to the centre; apart from that, climate research is located on the periphery.
"This weighting in closely networked centre and little networked periphery is not arbitrary in network analysis, it stands for power relations," says Harald Katzmair, Managing Director of FASresearch.
